## Why use webhooks

Webhooks are a way to receive real-time notifications when certain events occur on your beehiiv publication. These can be helpful for:

* Integrating your publication with other services.
* Keeping track of your audience in third-party apps.
* And more.

## How to configure webhooks

Webhooks can be configured in two ways:

1. In the app: Navigate to `Settings > Webhooks`.
2. Using the API: Send a `POST` request to the `/webhooks` endpoint (see [API reference](/api-reference/webhooks/post-webhooks)).

The event types are listed in the sidebar of this page and are organized by the resource they are associated with.

## Verifying webhook signatures

beehiiv delivers webhooks through [Svix](https://www.svix.com/). Each request includes `svix-id`, `svix-timestamp`, and `svix-signature` headers that you should verify with your endpoint's signing secret before processing the payload.

You can find the signing secret in the app under `Settings > Webhooks` on the endpoint details page.

For step-by-step verification instructions, see the [Svix documentation on verifying payloads](https://docs.svix.com/receiving/verifying-payloads/how-manual).

## Webhooks in Zapier and Make

The beehiiv team currently maintain a [Zapier integration](https://zapier.com/apps/beehiiv/integrations) and a [Make integration](https://www.make.com/en/integrations/beehiiv).

In Zapier, webhooks are known as "Triggers," which assist the user set up a webhook without having to set them up in the app as outlined above. In Make, users should use the [Custom Webhook](https://www.make.com/en/help/tools/webhooks) module and follow step 1 above to set up their webhook to point to the Make-provided URL.
